My-oh-my how we love STEM! This lower-middle school math course focuses on preparing middle-schoolers' for high school Algebra while applying their arithmetic to a gamut of science subjects. Through chemistry, engineering, life science, physics, earth and space sciences, and environmentalism, kids will have fun using their math skills to solve problems, make predictions, and become confident learners. I created this course because I noticed a lack of math confidence in some of my science students. I also realized that some kids benefited from the challenge of applying their math skills to open-ended scenarios. This class combines resources from Generation Genius, Math Mammoth, and Holt McDougal to form an engaging and educational class. Two lessons are posted online each week for kids to watch and complete at home. In-person instruction reinforces what they learned and then applies it to science scenarios. We will emphasize confidence in mental math, problem solving, graphing, and other pre-algebra skills!
